Presentation Guidelines for oral and poster presentations

Oral Presentations

1. PowerPoint-presentations

Presentations should be submitted at least an hour before your time to the Speakers´ Service next to the registration desk in the entrance lobby of Tampere Hall. Bring your presentation in an USB stick and the conference assistants will transfer it to your lecture room via internal net. Please, note that there might be a queue during lunch and coffee breaks in the service.

Remember also to save all video, sound and/or other similar files that are meant to be used in the presentation.

2. Computer in the lecture rooms

Each lecture room is equipped with a PC laptop computer, a data/video projector and a screen/monitor.
The software installed on the computer includes:

  • MS Office 2013 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Internet Explorer
  • Windows Media Player
  • Skype
  • Open office

3. Using your own laptop

It is recommended that you use the computer in the lecture room. If you for some reason cannot use the hardware available, we ask you to arrive to the lecture room well before your presentation will start. This is to double-check that your laptop/device is compatible with the projector and/or do carry out needed changes to the settings.

4. Length of the presentation

Session speakers:
Each speaker has 12 minutes for talk + 3 minutes for questions. Please keep within the time limit. The chairperson is responsible for keeping the time and will alert you as you approach your time limit.

All speakers should introduce themselves to the session chair before the beginning of the session.

Special Session speakers:
In most of the Special Sessions there is one invited talk. Invited Speakers have 25 minutes for talk + 5 minutes for questions. Other speakers in special sessions have 12 minutes for talk + 3 minutes for questions.

Please contact the organizer of you special session to request the length of your talk.

All speakers should introduce themselves to the session chair before the beginning of the session.

Poster Presentations

The size of the available panels will be in vertical format (1250 mm in height x 1000 mm in width). The recommended size of the poster is A0 (1189 mm in height x 841 mm in width).

The location of your poster panel in the poster session is available at the conference site. 

Poster presenters are required to put up their posters at the beginning of day  of their poster presentation, latest at 9:00, and take the poster out at the same day latest at 17:00. Tape and other material to help authors to hang their posters will be made available by the organizers.

Poster presenters are required to be present at their poster on the day of their poster presentation during the morning and the afternoon coffee & poster breaks (9:45 – 10:45 & 14:45-15:45).

Presenters are responsible of printing their posters.

Possibilty to print your posters

The organizing committee has found a local printing shop Kopioniini (kopioniini.fi), who have provided an easy and low-priced offer to print your posters.

Kopioniini’s offer:

  • Poster size: A0
  • Printing: 4/0 matte paper
  • Price: 25,00 euros includes VAT 24%
  • Material:
    • Send you poster as a PDF-file to tampere@kopioniini.fi
    • Please specify the order number in your order: TT62017
  • Deadlines:
    • 12.6. required posters: please submit pdf no later than 7.6.
    • The rest of the posters will be delivered approximately 24 hours from delivery.
  • Picking up the poster:
    • Pick up from Kopioniini’s office (opposite to the Tampere-Hall, Address: Åkerlundinkatu 2 A, 33100 Tampere)
    • Payment: You can pay your poster by cash or card (Depit, Visa, Visa Electron and MasterCard)
  • Inquiries:
    • All inquiries about the poster printing needs to be send to tampere@kopioniini.fi
    • Conference organizers do NOT reply to requests of poster printing.
