One of the EMBEC’17 & NBC’17 Keynote Speakers, Nobel Laureate Stefan W. Hell from Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Germany, will give his plenary talk on “Recent Development on Super Resolution Microscopy”.
Professor Stefan W. Hell received his doctorate in physics in 1990. At present he leads the Department of NanoBiophotonics at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen.
Professor Stefan W. Hell is credited with having conceived, validated and applied the first viable concept for overcoming Abbe’s diffraction-limited resolution barrier in a light-focusing fluorescence microscope. For this accomplishment he has received several awards: most recently he shared the 2014 Kavli Prize in Nanoscience and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
